After all the heart break for Kiana to watch Emma go to swim lessons without her, she finally got her turn. Hooray!! She loved it from day one and she loved her teacher. Whenever we looked over at her she was holding on to her teacher and getting special attention from her for being the youngest and the smallest one in the class. She learned to blow bubbles in the water and close her eyes to go under water. She is still terribly afraid of floating on her back, especially in a life jacket because she gets stuck on her back and can't get her feet back under her. She did master the froggy slide and couldn't get enough of the big water slide. We have her signed up again for the end of the summer. Our goals for the next time: Floating on back-supported, recover from back floating to standing, and simultaneous arm and leg movement. Wish us luck
Emma has taken to the water like a fish. She breezed through the first few classes and now she is in a challenging level which is good for her. She insists that she has to have her goggles or she can't get the rings from the bottom. She is practicing the front and back crawl and rhythm breathing. She can float on her back for a short time and is even practing diving. The big water slide and hydrotube do not scare Emma at all even without a life jacket. She keeps going and going and going. We try to make it a regular family activity to go swimming especially now that our temperatures are above 100 for the rest of the summer.

WOW!! I think one of the most valuable things you can teach your kids is how to swim. It sure is a protection for you and them. I can't tell you how many times I had to fish kids out of the water because they ran and jumped in the pool before their parents could stop them. If they know how to swim and how to get out of hard situations in the water then they can stay safe. GREAT JILL!! Way to go girls!!
Jill.. love your blog. so cute. I need some help with mine. Okay and who is the lady that is so creative that is SW designs..she is awesome. Is she here in town? We need to let the kids play sometime.
Looks like a lot of fun. I totally agree with Natalie, teaching your kids how to swim is very valuable. My sister teaches her kids how to swim at 2.5 years old. Good job Jill, you're a great mom!
