Who's birthday is it?

Kiana is 3 yrs old now! Happy Birthday Sweetie! Where has the time gone? She has been so excited for her birthday and all she could talk about was wanting a bike so here is her very first bike. She rode it through the house all day and asked if she could ride it to church? We were able to tear her away from it long enough to go to church but only because she got a new birthday outfit she could wear. She loves to pull out Emma's skirts and wear them because they are long so I found this long skirt that actually fits her.
I've decided I wanted to try my hand at making fun cakes and so Kiana's birthday cake got to be my first experiment. I had seen a ladybug cake on my new favorite show "Ace of Cakes" and thought I could do a simple version of that. Kiana thought it would be great to have a ladybug cake, but when it came time to put it together I ran into so many problems. I had done research on the frosting to use and all sorts of other things you don't normally think about but when it came time to color the frosting I realized that red and black are the two hardest colors to get without making it taste bitter. Finally at 10:30 at night I ran to Albertson's and got Oreo's and some red decorating frost. I added the red to my pink frosting and crushed up the Oreo's to get the black and ta da! Kiana was so excited when she woke up on her birthday and saw the ladybug. Thanks to Steve for being there for me even though it was late and letting me bounce ideas and frustrations off him.

Weekend up North

We went to the petting zoo with Poppy where Kiana rode a pony for the first time. She was scared at first, but she loves talking about now. It was Emma's third time riding one so she was an old pro. There were goats that jumped up and licked food ride out of my hand. The girls had fun with all the animals. At Poppy's house the girls always love playing dress and Kiana especially loves wearing this blonde curly wig everytime we go.

State Champs!!!!

We got to go watch Grandpa Bingham's high school girls softball team play in the state tournament, which they won!!! Hooray for Grandpa! Their team played so well that the other team didn't even score a point in the championship game.
The grandkids were all excited to get their picture taken with Grandpa and his trophy.

Snow in May?

It may look like we got snow on our grass and garden, which is very rare in the winter let alone in May, but oh no, it's cotton seeds from a cottonwood tree in our neighbors' yard behind us. It is a very large shade tree that is great in the summer because it shades our house and cools it off in the 100+ degree weather, but unfortunately in the spring we get the sticky stuff on the ground when the buds open, the cotton flying all over our yard and house for weeks, and the cotton pods droping all over our grass. From the end of May until October it's great though until all the leaves fall into our yard. On the bright side it does make great mulch for our garden though.

Speaking of our garden we are very excited for all the fruits (or vegetables) of our labor. We already have peppers and tomatoes growing and our peas have just bloomed flowers so we hope to see pea pods soon. If anyone wants some fresh produce just come to our house in a few weeks because we will have an abundance of it all.
